Non local image processing
Prof. Jean-Michel Morel
Abstract
Efros and Leung discovered in 1999 that digital images are best described by non-local self-similar structures which can be detected by patch comparisons. This fact was initially used only for texture synthesis. It has since been applied to various tasks in image processing.
I'll focus on image denoising and explain how various classic neighborhood filters for image denoising can be made "non local".
I'll also explain and apply the methodology to compare image denoising filters.
