3D Motion Estimation of Human Based on Coplanar Constraint

Abstract

An articulated object means an object consisting of some rigid links connected together by joints. Motion and structure determination of some coplanar rigid links from many frames plays important role in the motion estimation of the articulated object. In this talk, I will show that based on coplanar constraint the motion and structure of the articulated object can be determined within a scale factor from a monocular sequence of images. By Genetic Algorithm we achieve the unique numerical solution to motion estimation of coplanar links. Then we apply this technique to human motion analysis, and obtain 3D structure of joints. The experiments with simulated data and real images are included to demonstrate the validity of the theoretic results.
