Tomography. Allan Cormack published the original theory in 1963-4 of the mathematics of combining multiple X-Ray measurements ( See also Representation of a Function by Its Line Integrals with Some Radiological Applications. ). Godfrey Hounsfield, built the first CT scanner in 1971. They shared the 1979 Nobel Prize.
